Emerging Countries Committee

Vision and Mission:  Vision: The Emerging Countreis Committee (ECC), appointed by the International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST) Executive Board, envisions a global community of Schema Therapy clinicians and researchers; where individuals of all identities: socioeconomic status, ethnicity, religion, and culture are understood, appreciated, and provided the opportunity to have access to quality training and supervision in Schema Therapy; as well as the right to be included within our International Society where equitable treatment prevails, the exchange of information, ideas, and experience is respected, the integrity of the schema therapy model is upheld, and the option to participate in relevant member-related activities is welcomed and supported.

Mission Statement :  Through strategic planning and adherence to ISST standards, protocols, and programmatic guidelines, the Schema Therapy Development Programs Committee (STDP) endeavors to empower clinicians and researchers from developing regions around the world to be integrated within our ever-evolving diverse and inclusive clinical community.  Specifically, the STDPC – with the approval and support of the Executive Board – will strive to assist those in developing regions in their pursuit of schema therapy research, training, and certification opportunities. Members of the STDP committee will collaborate in creating and implementing a means for promoting access to schema therapy training, schema therapy resources, and ISST inclusion for those who, due to financial feasibility challenges or socio-political obstacles, cannot easily access schema therapy training programs and cannot afford the costs associated with ISST-approved trainers facilitating these programs in their countries.  Where appropriate, the STDP will encourage the formation of National Special Interest Groups, National Branches of the ISST, or National Societies Affiliated with the ISST in terms of the ISST’s regulations governing such regional and national structures.
