About
Hannie van Genderen, MSc, psychotherapist/clinical psychologist and I am supervisor and trainer in Schema Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural therapy. For more information about my Schema Therapy Institute see www.schematherapieopleidingen.nl.
I am involved as a senior consultant and clinical psychologist in the treatment and research of a wide range of disorders since 1987. From 2011-2017 I was coordinator Research Development & Education at the Community Mental Health Centre Virenze Riagg Maastricht. since 2017 I work in a private practice.
I was involved with the introduction of Schema Therapy for personality disorders in the Netherlands from the very beginning in 1996. I closely collaborate with prof. A. Arntz, with whom I have written the book 'Schema Therapy for the Borderline Personality Disorder' (Wiley, 2009). Together with Gitta Jacob and Laura Seebauer I wrote Breaking negative thinking patterns: A Schema Therapy Self-help and support book (Wiley 2015).

Jeffrey Young trained me in Schema Therapy since 1996. Joan Farrell and Ida Shaw also trained me in Group Schema Therapy since 2009. I am a trainer and supervisor in Schema Therapy in the Netherlands since 2000.
I was involved with the foundation of the ISST and was member of the board as Coördinator for Training and Certification from 2010-2012. Since 2012 am chair of the Dutch Schema Therapy Association.
