This program in Schema Therapy for Children and Adolescents is a certified program by the International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST): #RO002, October 3, 2022. / Training Program Director: Diana Teodorescu

Schema Therapy Training Program for Children and Adolescents offers a comprehensive intervention approach addressing both the individual and the family system. The program's modules focus on: the conceptual model of Schema Therapy (schemas, modes, and coping strategies); the underlying theory (the importance of core emotional needs within the context of developmental tasks); diagnostic tools (such as projective methods); and specific therapist attitudes (e.g., the concepts of "limited reparenting" and "empathic confrontation"), all considered against the backdrop of temperament and personality factors in childhood and adolescence. Another area of focus involves learning an advanced, in-depth approach to working with parents—referred to here as "Schema-Focused Coaching" or "Systemic Schema Therapy." This approach addresses specific schema or mode-based interactions between child and parent and elucidates the processes of mutual reinforcement between the early maladaptive schemas of the children and those of the parents.

The core of this workshop series consists of training and practice sessions featuring effective, refined, and integrative intervention strategies tailored to specific age groups. Beyond the theoretical aspects of Schema Therapy, the training program includes numerous practical demonstrations, video materials, and short exercises designed to enable participants to apply the information directly to their therapeutic practice.

Upon completion, the program awards an ISST certificate (International Society of Schema Therapy), which opens the way for subsequent international certification.

Who can register?

The event is for all therapists and clinical psychologists who wish to enrich their knowledge and experience regarding Schema Therapy for Children and Adolescents (ST-CA) and their parents, while also offering the opportunity to obtain international certification in this type of therapy.

Important NOTE:

For those interested in ST-CA certification offered by International Society of Schema Therapy, a few clarifications are necessary:

International certification following the course can only be obtained by licensed psychotherapists (according to legislation or rules in their country) who meet one of the following three criteria: either they obtained certification or specialization in child and adolescent psychotherapy—prior to or during the ST-CA basic training—in accordance with the regulations of the country where they practice; or they hold basic training in adult therapy plus an additional specialization in child and adolescent therapy, obtained before or during the ST-CA basic training; or they possess at least three years of experience in therapy with children, adolescents, and their families (verified via job description or private practice records).
